Gait Analysis: Prepare for Your Test

Gait Analysis at the CHAMP Center uses 3D motion capture, pressure sensors, and expert clinical interpretation to evaluate movement efficiency, asymmetries, and joint loading. Proper preparation ensures accurate, actionable results and a safe, comfortable session.

What to Expect During Testing:

Your height and weight will be measured at the start of testing.
A physical therapist will perform a brief readiness assessment of strength and mobility at the hip, knee, and ankle/foot.
Reflective markers are placed on 18 key points across the ankle, knee, and hip joints. Click Here to view a photo of the marker placements.
You will walk or run on an instrumented treadmill for 5–10 minutes while motion capture and pressure sensors record your movement.
Testing is fully supervised by a physical therapist and a certified gait analyst.
The full assessment lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours.
Staff will provide continuous instruction, monitoring, and support throughout the test.
