Athlete performing a Wingate anaerobic bike test

Wingate Anaerobic Power Test

The Wingate bike test is a high-intensity anaerobic exercise assessment lasting 30 seconds. It involves pedaling against a high resistance at maximum effort on a stationary bike. Participants aim to maintain the highest possible speed throughout. This strength assessment measures peak power output, anaerobic capacity, and fatigue resistance. It's used to evaluate athletic performance, particularly in activities requiring short bursts of power. Data collected from the test helps in assessing progress, and identifying strengths and weaknesses in an individual's anaerobic fitness.
